You've surely heard of ride sharing through popular apps such as Uber and Lyft, but you may not have heard of car sharing services such as Turo. BMW and Daimler(Mercedes parent company) have decided to merge their services together in a 50/50 fashion which means that Mercedes' Car2Go and BMW's DriveNow and ReachNow services will become one offering. With the advent of the autonomous car, big companies are predicting that we will diverge from the car ownership model and land on something more ala carte. Without loyal buyers to deliver their cars, making a service like this a popular one would be a good way to ensure the vehicles you manufacture will have a purpose and future.
